Implementation of the Notch Filters Using Subband Decomposition

چکیده
SUMMARY The design of the finite impulse response (FIR) notch filter with controlled null width is expressed as a derivatively contrained quadratic optimization problem. The problem is transformed into an un-constrained one by choosing a null matrix orthogonal to the derivative constraint matrix. In this paper, subband decomposition using wavelet filters is employed to construct the null matrix. Taking advantage of the vanishing moment property of the wavelet filters, the proposed method can adjust the null width of the notch filter for eliminating the intractable iterference by controlling the regularity of the wavelet filters. Simulation results show that the new method can offer comparable performance as those of the existing full-rank-based ones and thus provides a promising alternative to the existing works.

Digital Notch Filters Implementation with Fixed-point Arithmetic
− Many studies have been developed aiming to improve digital filters realizations, recurring to intricate structures and analysing the error ́s behaviour. The work presented in this paper analyses the feasibility of fixedpoint implementation of classical IIR notch filters (Butterworth, Chebyshev, Bessel and elliptic), and also the effect of the quality factor and normalized cut-off frequency in ...
متن کاملNew Subband Adaptive IIR Filter Based On Polyphase Decomposition
Abstract—We present a subband adaptive infinite-impulse response (IIR) filtering method, which is based on a polyphase decomposition of IIR filter. Motivated by the fact that the polyphase structure has benefits in terms of convergence rate and stability, we introduce the polyphase decomposition to subband IIR filtering, i.e., in each subband high order IIR filter is decomposed into polyphase I...
متن کاملA Signal-Specific QMF Bank Design Technique Using Karhunen-Loéve Transform Approximation
Block Wavelet Transforms (BWTs) are orthogonal matrix transforms that can be obtained from orthogonal subband filter banks. They were initially generated to produce matrix transforms which may carry nice properties inheriting from wavelets, as alternatives to DCT and similar matrix transforms. Although the construction methodology of BWT is clear, the reverse operation was not researched. In ce...
متن کاملObject recognition in subband transform-compressed images by use of correlation filters.
We introduce subband correlation filters (SCFs) as a solution to the problem of object recognition at multiple resolution levels in quantized transformed imagery. The approach synthesizes correlation filters that operate directly on subband coefficients rather than on image data. We explore two techniques to accomplish the reduced-resolution recognition: (1) training the correlation filters to ...
متن کاملSubband-domain filtering of MPEG audio signals
The cosine modulated filter bank is commonly used for the timefrequency decomposition of audio signals. For example, it is a basic element of the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio coding standards. While this filter bank is not perfectly-reconstructing, it does provide for the cancelation of aliasing components that are introduced during the analysis decomposition. If the subband signals are to be proces...
